What Parameter setting do you use with the 20D?

I left mine a the default setting of 2 for a couple of months after getting the camera, and had a lot of problems with getting sharp pictures. OK, I could fix some in photoshop but the usm settings seemed a bit excessive in many cases.

Now I switched to Parameter 1 and am getting much better results.

Is anyone else shooting with Parameter 1, and are there any downsides to using this setting?

best wishes.

I think a lot of people are using AdobeRGB & sharpening selectivly in post processing which might be the best way to go if you can. Someone else will have to address the Parameter issue.

The only downsides are when you find pictures you don' t like. Use whatever parameter set gives you the pictures you like. Remember that you can experiment with these settings as well -- there are 3 sets you can program as you wish to see if you can become even more satisfied with the results. You could begin by copying the settings from parameter 1 and then try adjusting things from there.

But ultimately it is what your eyes see that matter -- when you can take pictures you are happy with, that's the setting you should use. Many people prefer to use postprocessing to get the pictures they are happiest with. Many others are happy to find settings they can use to get shots they like with no post processing. Still others find a balance, not post-processing every picture but willing and able to use the post processing tools to hone their pictures.

There aren't any downsides to using any of the parameters unless they give you pictures you are unhappy with.

I set the sharpening to max and the saturation to one over mid point.

I like to do everything on photoshop........so they all stay on zero.
