Hello all.

I recently purchased the 4 MP elph for snapshots and general photography. I have been very pleased so far with the outcome of the pictures even with my very limited knowledge. I went to the beach last weekend and got some great shots but am having trouble with one. I found a sand dollar on the beach that is very tiny, just a little bigger than my thumbnail. I have been trying to shoot a pic of this next to a quarter for comparison and have not been having much luck. It either is just blurry or I am getting a lot of I guess it would be called glare. I have the camera set on the mode for up-close shots, the little flower icon I think it is, but this has not solved the problem. Could someone who is familiar with this cam give me some pointers? Thanks.

Sam

You might want to post this to the "Small Compact Digitals" section rather than here - you'll likely get more responses.

Other than that, I'd say that you really need to watch the lighting - make sure its indirect enough to not reflect directly off the quarter, but bright enough so that you get a good shutter speed. Use a tripod if you can. A diffuse light source will give better detail on the quarter.

Check the manual for the minimum close-focus distance and make sure to not get any closer. Also, avoid using flash - it is a good source of reflected light.
