There's this old barn, really rugged and in need of repairs (which to our big surprised has been started, for a while we thought they were tearing it down) by our house, after my MIL said she really enjoyed old barns and her aunt had photographed barns I thought it would be a neat subject. So I went for a walk with my kids and snapped a few and this one stuck out to me when I downloaded the pictures.

The postprocessing was nothing but adding a mix of Sepia/B&W tint, coloring back the door and adding the "frame" around it. I really enjoyed this picture, think it turned out so neat.

It is a nice picture, but I think the effect around the picture edge is too much. I found my eye drifting from the red door to the edge of the photo every time I look at it.

Just my amateur $0.02 so take it for what it's worth :D

Thank you. I loved the idea of the red door, was there not a movie or a book named something like the red door? Hmmm....

Thanks! Ha! No not really....I bought Photo Explosion Deluxe 2.0 a few weeks ago becuz of the effects and alike I'd be able to do and I"m JUST learning the ropes of it, this is one of the better pictures that came out with the tinted and added color effect. Gosh I wish I had the $$'s so spend on the PS that every here seems to be using. =oP
THanks tho.

So you would like it better without the "frame/border" ??? Like this. See I think it kind of brought it in to focus, it was too much of something with nothing framing it in and I'm not into the black or white frames/borders myself.
So is that the only thing you would have done different, removed the border?

A frame would be great, it does help to focus the eye, but I just thought you framed out too much of the photo. The aged and weathered wood helps give the barn character. It seemed like you were trying to block out the wood and just leave the opening and the door.

Again, this is just my opinion and I am in no way, shape or form a professional at anything except giving opinions :p

In a way I guess you're right, I wanted the focus to be on the door a bit, but the barn was part of it also, just didn't want to much of the barn.
Hey opinions are good, helps give another perspective, isn't that usually what we're after, a different perspective to make the next one better?
