View Full Version : How much to charge an out-of-town event?
11th of March 2009 (Wed), 18:17
I am a professional photographer for 15 years and more. My work is mainly advertising & commercial. I just moved back to Vancouver from Asia and I have no clue with pricing on this part of the globe.
6 hour minimum event shoot for a major food fair, have to fly out of Vancouver to Edmonton. 1 overnight stay, fly out the next day. Will
release all images in CD to client.
HELP. How much should I charge?
Thanks for your help.

I would charge expenses plus a fee to cover the extra time you need to spend in transit. You have to put a value onto your extra time - it depends if you really want the work you'll do it cheap or if you don't much care if you do it put on your happy price.

I don't do an hourly rate when I travel. Hourly rates mean you keep tabs on where you are and what you're doing every minute of the time. I'd charge them my day rate x 2 plus expenses.
