I shot these with one 580EX flash mounted on an impact light stand with a 45" umbrella. I actually brought two flashes and two umbrellas but like a dummy I forgot the optical slave, so I could not fire my second flash. Oh well. I did this for free since I just wanted to play with the lights and I am good friends with the woman, and this is their first child. Let me know what you think. I know some of them could use lighting on the shadow side, but with only one light and no reflector, I made do with what I had.

Oh, and later on, when we were inside, she was a little sick, so the only way to keep her from crying was to put the pacifier in her mouth. I would have preferred it out, obviously!

Flash shooting into the umbrella (with black cover on umbrella), behind me, from the left side.

Same umbrella setup, but inside. I couldn't move them away from the backdrop because it wasn't big enough.

Wireless 580EX shot through a snoot, held high and to the right (the mom held it). They wanted an effect of her being in jail, because she always plays with the bars that keep her from going upstairs. :)

I think these are great!
Considering you had dramas with lighting and space, the photos turned out fabulous!
My fave would have to be 6, but I really like 4 and 5 also.
Well done :)

These are really good, but I would have positioned the umbrella just a little differently to avoid the reflection in the father's glasses.

Thanks! I know next time to put the umbrella higher next time. Thanks!

On another note, my 45" umbrella blew over during a wind gust outside. Thankfully, the umbrella took the brunt of the fall, cushioning the fall for the 580EX.

Two of the poles bent, but I was able to bend them back. I had a gallon of water bungeed to each leg and it still blew down. Dang!
