I'm curious if there is a negative feedback section, and if not, I wonder if it would be a good idea? It might help people from getting burned...

There is no negative feedback section. Negative feedback invariably leads to he said/he said contests. We do not allow public floggings or lynchings here.

Not to mention that it's been discussed several times. If you would have searched, you would have found it.
Clicky Here! (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/search.php?searchid=7076664)
Also, and this is usually overlooked because of the location on the page (happens all the time). There is a "Similar Threads" section at the bottom of the pages.

Hi,in my opinion i would never allow myself to be in the position of needing to give negative feedback....i assume you mean from a buying point of view?
I would never buy a camera body or lens unless i could hold it in my hand and have a look at it and through it!

And vice versa. There's a post in Market Watch right now where a guy gave gear to another guy based upon the "promise" that he would send a check.
To the OP: how would you go about verifying the validity / truthfulness of any given post about another? The internet is a mean place. Anybody can write anything about anybody else at any time, substantiated or not.

SInce there is no negative feedback section how do I register that a fellow POTN member screwed me out of the money I paid him for an item and he never delivered???
Not Fair.
He cashed the check and never sent the item. I doubt if I will ever buy an item on POTN again.

Then that's where you notify the police. Depending on the amount of the item, it could be grand larceny vs petit larceny. Take a copy of all communication between you and the seller and the copy of the cancelled check. You have a fair amount of rights in this case. Chances are, the first call from the PD or prosecutor's office, you'll receive your item. Sorry that you got screwed. It sucks that there are jerks out there who intentionally do that to people. However, it clearly states that POTN's responsibility ends at the posting of the item.

Did you establish an independant line of comminication, i.e., email, telephone#, snail mail address, as stated in this thread? http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=4527356&postcount=2

That's a bit rough. Was there proof that the item had been despatched?
Were there other items for sale in the post? Would be interesting to see if another member received the same treatment as you.

Did you send the check via usps? If so, and if regulations are the same as they were a few years back, you can file a complaint with the postal service as a postal crime.

Then that's your loss, as you'll be missing out on some amazing deals.
I've sold over $25,000 worth of equipment on this forum. People leap at my sales. Why? Because they know I have flawless feedback from others who have purchased from me; because they know I treat my equipment better than my family (jk, but close) and because often times they are saving hundreds and buying things that are indistinguishable from new.
At one time I would never buy used either. But besides the above, I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of equipment from this forum and others and have never been burned.
One time I bought krumpler bag from a seller here. I'm very picky, if you haven't gleaned that already. The bag arrived and it had two small stains on it. I was not happy. When I contacted the seller and said he should have disclosed it, he reminded me that he posted many pictures of the bag.
Indeed, he had, and I immediately apologized. In spite of that, he offered a full refund. I still have and enjoy the bag.
