I purposely tried to blow these out a little to give a softer look. The first two perhaps could be lightened more to match the head shots maybe?

First 2 look fine to me, no need to lighten. #3 and #4 I think the DOF is a little shallow, although the expression on #4 is great. Cute kid!

what type of lighting are you using?

Just a shoot thru umbrella with a white foam core reflector.

I am looking to improve so any critique would be very appreciated :)
