I just ordered replacement pick and pluck foam for my pelican 1550. I am trying to figure out the best layout for my gear before I start plucking out sections. Does anyone have pictures of there pelican that they can post to give me some ideas. This will be mostly for storage and travel. I need to put the following in it

30D with Grip
30D with Grip
70-200 2.8 IS with hood
85 1.8 with hood
50 1.8 with hood
Tam 17-50 2.8 with hood
Canon 430EX
Sigma 500 DG Super
Battery charger
extra batteries
4 sets of 4 AA rechargeable batteries
several CF cards

Maybe you should see the "show me you bag" thread. There are a few pelicases and there are soms pictures.

Else try youself and see what is best for you

Yea check out the bags/cases sticky thread. You really should consider the padded dividers though. The pick and pluck foam has a lot of drawbacks.

I thought about that but the dividers is almost twice the cost. Also since the pelican is just for storage and travel I don't think the foam will be that big of a problem especially if I get it configured right. Once I get to my destination, I will switch over to my backpack for day to day use. I will check out the sticky though to see what is there.

Sure, perhaps the padded dividers are more up front as far as cost goes, but they are reconfigurable whenever you want/need, and the foam wears out rather quickly even from simply use of removing and inserting the protected items. So youll buy enough replacement sets of foam to equate the cost of the better padded dividers over time.
