First of all apologies if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it if required.

I have been asked to take photos at a fashion shoot next week and cannot decide which setup to use.

From what I can gather it is not a catwalk style shoot or at least not a raised catwalk and it is in a club so will probably require flash lighting.

I will be using a Canon 40D wirh 580EXII flash.

My dilemma is which lens to use from the option below (with my opinions):

1. Canon 17-40L - Best quality but limited in range and only f4.0
2. Sigma 17-70 - Not as good quality but better range and f2.8 at the wide end.
3. Canon 28-135 IS - This would be my last choice due to quality and possibly not wide enough but the IS could be useful.
What would you recommend?

Although I appreciate any advice please do not advise other lenses to those I have stated as I am sure there are better lenses I could use but I do not have access to any other lenses before this event.

Many Thanks

Darren.

If you need to use flash after all, I don't think the IS would be a particular benefit on the 28-135, the flash should freeze the action sufficiently. If it were me, I'd go with the 17-70.

If it was me I would take the 17-70 and the 28-135 and decide which lens will best suit the situation on the fly. You will probably want some wide shots of the venue with the action going on and some tight shots of the details.

17-40 on a crop, should give a nice portrait length and the best IQ.
You probably won't need over f/4 if your using flash..
