I'm in the market for several 512M CF cards for my 20D. It's probably a toss up between Lexar and Sandisk presently, unless anyone has some suggestions for other manufacturers. I'll probably go with something of a 40X card.
I wondering if anyone has had any reliability (data lost) issues with the Lexar or Sandisk or problems that they haven't worked reliably in a 20D ( lockups or other strange occurances ).

Did a search on this and found a year thread on the subject in which the info was a bit outdated.

Take a look at the specs for Ridata + any reviews you can find. I have 5 of these 512 cards in use, the latest being 80x. Check them out at http://www.powerinnumbers.com.au/. Good to deal with.

Check out this site (http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007) for some very intresting information regarding CF speed tests.

My favorite is the Ultra II in 1GB, seems most cost effective. I filled up two such cards in a single afternoon and I don't shoot RAW yet either.

I ordered myself the same card last saturday, should be turning up very soon.

I'd recommend moving up to 1GB cards with an 8.2MP camera. You will not be happy how fast the 512s fill up. I own 3x1GB and 1x512 and will only use the 512 as a last resort.

I second this. I use 1 GB minimum and just started getting 2GB cards.

Hello,

Forget the 512 Mb cards if you have a 20 D. At least get the 1 Gb cards and better go to the 2 Gb cards. You must look only at the capacity and not at the speed. I have a 1 Gb standard Sandisk and a 2 Gb EXTREME III and in use in my 20 D they perform both equaly fast. Greetings.

I had thought about 1Gig cards, but the thing I'm fearful of is "putting my eggs all in one basket". I have some weddings coming up to shoot and if I should have a card failure with a 1 Gig card I stand to lose alot. At least with several 512's the potential loss of a single card would be really bad, but not as devastating as a 1 Gig or higher. That was one of the reasons I had asked about reliability with different cards.
