I recently bought a used 1D MKII which unfortunately came without a strap. I'm looking for recommendations on a really good strap to go with this camera please.

Thanks,
Dave.

Lots love the POTN strap (which is a branded version of the OPTech Strap).

Good reviews of the Crumpler Industry Disgrace and Domke Gripper as well.

It depends if you prefer the camera around your neck or over your shoulder.
The POTN / OpTech strap is very comfortable but I don't find that it grips all that well on the shoulder. I much prefer the UpStrap LINK (http://www.upstrap-pro.com/)

That just stays put. But it really is just personal preference. I don't like the standard Canon strap though.

I'm sure there are quite a few threads on straps, and I've used several, but I've been using Domke gripper straps for the last couple of years and have been very very happy.

Camera straps seem to all have personal preferences. Over the weekend I tried out the Black Rapid RS-4 (http://www.blackrapid.com/rs4.php) for the first time and absolutely love it with my 1D body!!! It's a little spendy but it was well worth it. I tried the Optech strap and found it to be too short, uncomfortable, and not easy to carry on the shoulder. I used the RS-4 for several hours this past weekend on my 1dMIIN with my 70-200 2.8 IS attached. I felt no fatique whatsoever after 4-5 hours.

UpStrap F.T.W.

I have a POTN strap on my 5D, and the UpStrap on my 1D Mark III. The UpStrap is so good - it just does not come off.

Most definitely a personal preference...many straps that get great reviews I cannot stand :p

The POTN strap is a good option. I personally have come to prefer the Domke 1.5" strap. I just prefer the width of it on my neck. The POTN strap is just a bit too wide for my taste.

Support the forum and get the POTN strap if you need one :)

Other than that, I recommend the Crumpler Industry Disgrace neck strap which is about $30-40AU.

The feel and padding of it is great for the heavier cameras.

Thanks everyone. I would have liked to get the POTN strap but I really need it for this weekend, and living in the UK there would have been no chance. I've plumped for the OpTech Pro strap. Thanks for all the help.

Dave.
