My bonus check from work arrives April2nd and I have decided I am using it to get a new workstation for the casa. It looks like I'll have a budget of about $650-700. With that kind of budget, how does this HP from Best Buy?

AMD 2.2GHz Quad Core Processor
6gb RAM
640gb SATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9100 Video Chipset
64bit Vista Home Premium w/ SP1
This will be used as a photo processing station (no gaming). I primarily use Photoshop Elements 7, with occasional use of Photoshop 7.0.

I just set one of these up for a client for general home use and was impressed with the speed and price. Not top of the line components but very reasonable for the price I think. I'd be tempted....but
I've gone from building my own to buying off the shelf because of these prices. That said, I've finally made the break from MS/Windows and so I've stopped looking at what's available in the PC realm.

It's kinda ugly, with the two tone black and the silver base, with all the little writing on it. You could probably cover it in a tartan throw, or something, to make it look better.

aside from the fact it's an HP and you're buying it from Best Buy, looks great. ;)

HP build kinda ugly looking systems, the screen is the part that you'll be looking at most ;)

I'm an AMD guy and love the Phenom line of processors. I was very impressed with the new tri-core cpus, so I'm sure you'll love the quad-core.

With 600$ you can build a much more powerful computer. I went on newegg to build my dad a new Photoshop system but was on a budget. 400$ shipped an tax got me a Amd Quadcore 2.8 GHZ 4GB Ram 1 TB Hard drive and a Nvidia 9800.

I have built computers before, and thinking about doing another build. Just not sure if I want to go that route this time, or buy a new, compete PC.
