I'm looking at getting some cactus v4 triggers but i was wondering about the delay in radio vs optical sync.
In other words would it be better to get a receiver for each light I want to fire or just for one and let my genesis 400 fire with its optical sensor
I have a canon 550EX, sunpak 383 and 1 genesis 400.
so is it better to get 3 receivers one for every light, or 2 receivers(one for each flash) and let the genesis strobe fire optically.
Is there any more or less delay???
Thanks for any input.

Do you need to shoot at fast shutter speeds like 1/250 or 1/200? If you are OK to shoot at 1/60(ish) then I doubt you would have a problem.
I use one Cactus radio trigger on my main light and all the others are fired optically off of that one.

I think it's far preferable to get one receiver for each flash. If money is that tight then letting the Genesis fire via optical is the way to go and should not cause you any issues. I wouild think you could get 1/125 without much issue.
If you will always be in total control of the environment - no other flash units going off - then just one receiver would work. That's pretty tough to insure though.

If conditions are favorable for optical triggering (indoors, no other people using flash), then optical is the superior option. The delay induced by an optical slave is zero for all practical purposes.
If conditions are not favorable for optical triggering (outdoors, or in the presence of other people using flash), then you'll need a separate radio receiver for each light.
