I wouldn't have an i7 if I were upgrading from a Q9450 either! But in my case I was going from an AMD 3000+ (that is a single core 1.9GHz in case nobody knew! ;) ).

Hey, I'm still running a Athlon64 3000+! This is the year for a new computer for me though. Can anyone give any opinions on how quiet these monster Cooler Master cases are? I love the looks but I want something a little quieter than what I got now so I don't have to bother with shutting down at night because my computer is in my bedroom.

That is an extremely tough question.... Coolermaster quality is quite good. The issue with any nicely built case is the components you use and in turn how you intend to cool it.

I could create 90% passively cooled machine, but the components would reflect a "not so powerful" system.

Antec does make some cases design for low noise. They design them for minimal fan use and high air flow. An example would be the Antec P190 + 1200, that would be my choice for a case with quiet in mind.

Note the large 200mm fan on the side. Rotates slower, but moves a lot of air.

EDIT: SORRY WE ARE OFF TOPIC HERE... CAN SOMEONE SPLIT UP THIS THREAD.

The coolermaster HAF932 is really not loud at all, its sets about 2ft from me and i can only hear the fans if it dead silent. It uses massive 240mm fans so they spin at lower speeds while moving the same amount of air a bunch 120mm would at a higher RPM. As you can see in my one of my pics the CPU with stock cooler was running at 29*C, you can't get much better then that.

All things considered (I use coolermaster quite a bit in my builds) I would probably choose something else if QUIET where the main goal.

I am using the RC 590 case which is almost a completely open design. Teh front is all mesh, there are also 4 fan openings (two on top, two on side). I am running the front fan, rear fan, Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU cooler fan, PSU fan, and one extra fan on top all are 120mm). My CPU is typically at 25C with all fans running at normal speed. If I drop the speed by about 30% on all fans I see no increase in temps, but the PC is so quiet that I can't here it AT ALL!

Overall I am very pleased with the case I bought.

Thank you for making a new thread. I know the Antec's are some of the quieter cases on the market but do they have enough flow to cool the bigger video cards and more powerful processors?

NFC how much flow it has but my Sonata Plus 550 is freakin' close to silent. I have it in my bedroom now while I'm inbetween places and the ambient noise well overpowers the noise that the computer makes.

Antec P180. Nice and big with sound-deadened side panels and front cover. Can't even hear the 5 fans that I have in mine!

Another vote for the Antec P180... been very happy with it. Lots of room and quiet.

Also check out https://www.endpcnoise.com/ they may give you a few more ideas and have a good rep.
