I was asked to take a few shots of a neighbor this Sunday past. I always enjoy these . . . victims for my camera. These are somewhat formal and are a type of graduation photograph. I took this sitting in Raw + Jpeg, this is from the Raw file. I did most of what correction I thought it needed in the 16 bit PSCS program.

I hope the compression does not do a disservice to Kevin . . . ;)

20D/50 f/1.4 w/550 EX fill flash in the AV mode.

Suggestions and or other feedback always welcome.

The leg wrinkles are a bit distracting, but if only the top portion of the photo is used, I guess that wouldn't matter :)

Use a higher apperture and blurr out the background it looks too busy for my taste.

The lighting and focus are great, do you mind sharing what settings you used ( I am doing an outdoor wedding reception in 2 weeks). Do you decrease your flash output when you use fill flash? Just curious...still trying to learn all the do's & don'ts of this camera.
Thanks,
Maureen

Maureen . . . I just used AV and pushed the flash button on the left side of your 20D. I pulled down the defuser to cover and or mute the flash some and let the camera figure out what was what.

I have been Very happy with fill flash on this camera . . . good luck on your shoot.

Very nice. I would prefer some more separation from the background - either DOF or perhaps contrast? Whatever you did with the flash worked well and the subject appears exposed just right to me. I like the pose with the fence and the book.
