Why is the forum unavailable for brief moments at times?

Sometimes I visit the forum or just refresh and the website doesn't open ("page not found")
It doesn't bother when reading or just lurking around, but I just typed a long reply to one post and when I clicked submit the forum was unavailable ("page not found") and my reply was gone.

I've had the same thing happen, but luckily not while typing a reply. I have no idea why either.

Sounds like a DNS error. Can you do a traceroute from your machine to http://photography-on-the.net - easy way to do that is download Ping Plotter 2.60 shareware version from http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html .

What is the exact error message the browser gives? Next time it happens cand you please check the server time on bottom of forum page (next time it loads ok) and post here.

BTW: If server does not respond when you click post, click "BACK" button on your browser - in 99% of cases you get the post form filled back.

There is no specific error message, just the plain ol' "Page cannot be displayed" error in IE.
When I go back in the browser it sometimes fills it in, but if you have quotes in the message it resets the editor to its initial state it seems (containing the quote and nothing else.

I have it happen about 2% of the time. Some days are worse than others and a 1/2 hour might go by before I can connect again. It's only happened once today.
