Hi,
I sometimes get these spots like on the following image. At the moment there is only one ( on the floor, a white big round spot) but sometimes the entire image is filled with them. Especially when shooting in low light areas. Doeas anyone know if it is normal or should i send the camera back to get it fixed.
Camera : Powershot A400

I assume that's a 100% crop, not the full picture. Could you post the (resized as necessary) full picture? My immediate reaction is that it's lens flare or a reflection of an overhead light.

No, this is the original picture :P it hasnt been cropped or anything. I will bring another example. It doesnt look like a lens flare... The strange thing is that on some of the images in the same light conditions in the same place those spots didnt appear.

That's paranormal activity, dude.

Or maybe spots on your lense? That's kinda weird.

Maybe dust in the air, bouncing the flash back. The closer it is to the camera the more light it'd get and the more out of focus it's be.

Definately due to dust in the air. I've seen this before. Happens because the flash is close to the lens

Dust sounds like the culprit...same thing was happening to me... a good throurough cleaning should fix it...

Yah, OK, what about this one? Look at full size above the dog's nose for a yellow outline of a circle. I took about 100 photos that morning, and it only made it into 1 shot....Digital is wierd.

What were the conditions? Had you used flash on this one? It looks like it's associated with a blade of grass in the background. Reflection of a droplet of liquid, maybe?

Jon, I'll bet you're right. There was frost on the ground and it was dawn. Thanks!

I've had this problem a lot in the past, especially when shooting indoors (A70). Father owns a Coolpix 4300 and never had this problem. Haven't had this problem in a while. I did clean the lens and spray down with compressed air. Was told to do that by a camera shop.

Have seen similar spots on some of my pictures. More noticeable where there is a dark background.
Took several shots from same-location, same-time, the other night . The flash shots had spots. the non-flash did not have any that were apparent. I have used two brands of cameras and the problem is the same in both. Never gave much thought about dust on the lens but now see how this could be the culprit. Thanks for the tip !

Not just on the lens. In the air, too. Look at a beam of sunlight coming into a room, and you'll be amazed how much dust can be in the air.
