I took this at the M&M Store using a 70-200 2.8 IS Mark III using the 580 II EX. Feedback would be much appreciated.
UPDATE: I went back to the M&M store and took a few more shots listed far below. Please all feedback is much welcome and appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

IMO there needs to be a better focal point... newbie opinion<<<<<

I agree with the previous comments. It is too much of a head-on shot which makes it almost look like a picture of a wall. I think that if the M&M's were a part of the picture rather than the whole thing, the results would have been more interesting. In other words, a context to tell the viewer something about the "what" and "where" without the need to verbally explain it.

Without having seen the whole scene, it's hard to say if there might have been a better way to compose this but I do have to say that I do actually like this as is. Typically when I review an image here at POTN (or elsewhere for that matter) I look at it for a few seconds to see where the problems are then start typing away and with this shot, I actually stared at it for a minute or two...it really seems to command a bit of attention. I think if you had this hanging in an exhibition you'd get a lot of people stopping to look at it...and to me that's a good thing. Now again not having seen the actually setting this is a bit subjective but I do have to admit that when looking at this, my eye seems to wander off the right side of the image...it could be the logo or something but I think it's the color and having the blacks in the middle. I have to wonder if you had of had the "My" more towards the left (and thus the blacks) and had the whole M&M logo in the shot how that would have looked. The words "HOSE ARE" seem kind of irrelevant to the shot..."MY M&M's" seems to say it all :D.
This does look like it would be a -really- fun place to shoot...I like the picture itself and I can see about a dozen other pictures inside of it too. You have some very classic elements here...lines, texture, color, etc., and by focusing on different things and trying different angles you could come up with a bunch of different ideas that could all make some really great shots.
Nice work...now I have the munchies!

I have to be honest this was a hard place to shoot at. It's inside the mall and I only have a 70-200 2.8 IS lens and I have to stand a mile back to take a shot. I'll try this again later and see if I can get the complete M&M in the picture.
I'm trying and it's a learning curve and I do appreciate all the feedback it helps me out a great deal.
Is there a good low light wide angel lens that would help me do close up shots where as the 70-200 I have to stand far back and I still miss part of what I'm shooting at.

You might want to try the 24 - 70 mm f/2.8 lens or even better for close quarters might be the 16 - 35 mm f/2.8 lens.

I went back to the M&M Store and attempted to take a few more shots. Here are the results. Feedback is more than welcome. Please note that none of these images have been edited. If you didn't know this already :)

Last shot is the best because it's the only one that really has any composition to it. Just my opinion.
The M&M store employees don't say anything to you walking in with all that gear? lol

Image #2 still looks too much like a shot of a wall. In your third image, I get a better feel for how the tubes of M&M's are situated in the store. With a wide angle lens and a greater depth of field, I think that a shot from the perspective of image #3 would do a lot towards creating the feeling of actually "being there".

Actually they did say something to me :) they asked if the gear was heavy. I replied Ummm Yes lol keep the feedback coming I really appreciate it.
I need a wide angle lens it's difficult shooting with a 70-200 close range like I'm doing. But going shopping tomorrow hoping to find another lens.

Bill the 3rd image is suppose to be the shot of the wall but notice how you can see the M&M to the right now ? I was missing that before.

I like the third image the best I think.
