Beautiful Robin Alan, great shots. I notice it has a tag on its leg, I've never seen a tag on a Robin before, why/who would do this?

Yeah there was 2 robins flying about,1 with the tag,the other without.
Maybe he was cought for doing that number counting thing in the area.As they sometimes do with sea birds.

Cheers for the info Alan. You're right its common to see this sort of thing on gulls and the like but I've never seen it on a Robin before. Learn something new everyday!:)

All sorts of birds are banded, just depending on who is doing the task and what they are trying to prove about migration or census. Endangered birds tend to be banded more, but lots of them get it sooner or later.
