Helped out my buddy with taking some pics of the High School kids Talent Show dress rehearsal. Whitney is a school in Whittier, CA for the top scoring kids in the district and these are really smart and talented kids that can put on a top notch show.
Basically, we show up to the theater, it's lit with spot lights so the metering is tricky. We have no idea what the acts will be, where on stage they will be performing, and how it will be lit. They perform for several minutes and that's the time you have to take the shots.
It was tough but also fun.
1. American Idol???

6. Go Sax Man! (focus is on the sax and not the eyes, oh well)

Nice shots.
Might have been nicer to include the whole shadow in the first and third shot.

Whoa! You've done so much with where so many have gone before. This is an almost impossible place to find new ideas. And.. and.... YOU FOUND THEM! This is a terrific series each stands on its own. Wunnerful work Tee.

What I really like about #3 is the vantage point - are you standing on the stage or shooting down onto it? What focal length?

Yep. You'd be surprised at the HS talent around. For example, I shot HS basketball all seaons. The kids who sang National Anthems at the HS events blew away most any rendition you hear at a pro level sporting event. They just don't have 'the name' yet.

Cool shots. Doesn't even look like a HS theatre, or talent. Good job on the timing of the 'taking a bow' shot, too. ;)

I'm on the stage but standing behind the dancer at a fair distance, I was using a sigma 24-60mm f2.8 lens.
Thanks for the comments.
