Just a ten days ago I've purchased a new A590IS,it worked fine for a two days and then I've noticed first symptoms of possible defect.By turning the mode dial it won't lock on the wished mode, for example,if I want M,it'll set on Av or Tv,if I want P,it'll set on Auto and so on.Sometimes, even if I manage to set it on M,it would switch by itself to anything else but M.Right now it stays on M and I don't touch mode dial anymore.Could somebody help me with this problem?I did try reset by taking small battery out for a few minutes, but it didn't help.I live in Croatia, and warranty doesn't mean anything here if you don't have official custom documents from the border(!?!?),and of course,I don't.I have an original invoice and warranty card.In Canon service they didn't seem to be interested about any of these documents.Any help will be appreciated, tanks in advance.

Well, that sounds like you need to either take it back to the dealer for exchange if it's still within that period or take it to Canon for service, warranty or no. There's not going to be a lot you can do about it yourself, since that sounds like an internal connection is malfunctioning.

Thanks Jon,
yes, that's what I'll need to do sooner or later. It's an excellent camera anyway, and I'm glad that I've bought it.I was only thinking maybe there is some other way to reset it,I'm sure this is the software problem, not a mode dial itself, because it's a brand new camera.
