Hey gang,
I just got my CTR-301 wireless triggers in the mail. Much better than my experience with the Cactus V2s.
Here's my review. (http://www.motleypixel.com/forum/index.php/topic,115.0.html)
Cheers,

So far these have been rock-solid with my canon 580ex and 430ex...the ebay store owner like my youtube review so much that he's sending me another set for free.

I got the 2 receiver set and it rocks! No misfires yet. Works with my Canon 580EXII and cheapo Yong Nuo YN460.

Motleypixel, can you please see if you can trigger the Cactus v2s Receivers with the CTR-301 triggers. I read it somewhere where it says that the newer version CTR-301P can trigger the vintage PT-04 and the Cactus v2s. I just need to confirm this.

This is probably what I'm looking for:affordable, and reliable. Seem to have found some conflicting reports, though, as to whether my Sigma 500 DG ST would be compatible. Anybody know it I'd need a new flashgun too?

I was just doing some searches on Google and came across this thread.
Anyway, I just got the CTR-301 P and it does not appear to work with the Sigma EF 500 DG Super. The status light on both the transmitter and receiver lights up but the flash does not fire. I'm disappointed because I specifically asked the seller if my flash is compatible and he said it would be.
Does anyone have any experience with these units and Sigma flashes?
Thanks!

Okay, I take what I said back. It turned out I didn't know how to operate my Sigma flash :) (Need to put it in command mode).
Shipping takes a while. I ordered on April 7th and got it today.

The mail carrier tried to deliver my triggers today, but my wife was taking a nap and didn't answer the door >:(
So she's going tomorrow to pick them up at the post office for me

I got to play around with them for about 10 minutes today after work. Overall, I'm happy with it. I used them to shoot in an alzo softbox. I'll try and give them a good work out on sunday when I get some free time. I just wish shipping didn't take 2 weeks. I used these w/ my sunpak 422d. I didn't test them on my 430 yet.

Confirmed. You can use CTR-301P Transmitter to trigger the original PT-04 Receivers, but unfortunately it did not work with the Cactus v2s Receivers.
Hope this helps some people who had the old Receivers and the new CTR-301P.

I decided to go with two Sunpak PF-30X flashes and a Ebay CTR-301P Trigger & 2 receivers...thing is the Sunpak will not flash...apparently it is compatible but I have tried everything!!!....it is set up correctly....but it will not flash...anyone used this set up before?

Make sure the SUNPAK is in Manual mode. Make sure the CTR-301P is switched to W side. Also check to make sure that you haved removed the plastic wrapper that came with the battery.. some people don't realize that there is plastic wrapper on those batteries.
Without connecting the Transmitter to the camera, when you press the test button on the Transmitter did you see a red light come up and also the light on the Receivers? Do that test first, if you see both light flashes, then put the flash on the Receiver still eithout the Transmitter on the camera, if that also worked, you can put the Transmitter on the camera and see if it works..
I hope you get it working.

I've had difficulty getting the 301P's to fire a Sunpak product as well. I don't remember which model...it was one I picked up for $20 on the last day of the Ritz Camera selected store liquidation.
That said they work great so far with 2 580EXII's and 2 YN-460's (they should ...same maker). Good luck. If you work it out let us know.

my only beef is that the transmitter unit has a really sharp/pointy metal contact point. scratches your hotshoe path on the way in.

I just received mine today. At first one of the receivers wasn't working but it was fine once I put a new battery in. Interestingly enough, the same battery that wasn't working in one, worked in another. Odd but I'm happy!

Yes. It will work with Canon 430EXII. It works with my Sigma EF-500 DG SUPER also and it's not listed either.

I've been using these for a while and they seem to work fine with my Sigma flash unit. One question though ... do I ever need to replace the battery in the transmitter unit?

Hi every one
I'm interested in CTR-301P. one guy from Yong nuo said that it can use as a remote control too. Does anyone know how? is it true?
I know they have another product as name RF-602 that work both as a trigger and as a remote control but I don't know it works in bulb mode or not.
thanks

For up to date.
I asked again from Yong nuo about function of CTR-301P. They emphasis again that works both as remote shutter and remote flash trigger. But in their cataloge has written only for flash trigger.
Thanks
