I was taking advantage of the nice weather today and went to Turtle Pond here in Concord. I just finished waxing my car and was leaving and saw this guy standing in one of the very few spots on the pond that has iced out. Taken with Canon Pro1 and TC-DC58A Tele-converter.

So elegant - a classic pose and really great shot.

Just one question - why were you waxing your car there? :D

Thanks for the compliments. Here's a tighter crop for a little more detail. I am only able to upload 100k and below images. They are amazing birds, especially when you see them in flight.

You guys must have the 'tame' versions of these, lol. Only in my dreams should I ever get this close to one of these birds. Are they common where you live? We have perhaps a dozen in the whole valley and they are highly sought and contested when found. I had to . . . excuse myself when the local chapter of the Autobon Society showed up at my last stake out. They are all not from here. Blue state transplants if you will, lol. They had on their, catalogue store sports/western wear. Looked nice if they lived in NYC.

Excuse me . . . lol.

VERY nice shot.

Thanks RJ, Yes they are quite common here. Just about any trip, to any pond and you will see them. I was within 50 to 60 feet max of this one.
