It looks... bent somehow. Is it me, or is the lens warping the shot? What causes that?

Can you explain in detail on which part of the picture make you feel unnatural. Maybe I can make some correction.
Yes, it's bent, because I use 28mm, and Canon S60 works not very good at 28MM.

It feels like the rectory(?) on the left is tilting towards the church.

I have the same problem on some shots that I did, one of them, strangely enough, with a church. Part of the building seems to be tilted where the rest is vertical. I was wondering if it was a perspective thing that the camera doesn't catch or if it is my technique.

Wide angle lenses (28mm), especially super wide (around 18mm) produce what are knowns as converging verticals. I think this is because the lens is actually curving the light or something like that. It is more prominant if you angle the lens up, even slightly. Someone here may have a correct technical answer for you ;)

You can't get round it unless you shoot standard zoom and even that may cause the convergence to occur.

Use the "perspective" command in PS. Grab the two handles at the top and pull them out to make the verticals, well vertical. :)

I never thought of that... outstanding tip, thanks!

Well, that's exactly how the "perspective" in real life works. Sometimes it's the way to show the
height of a building. Actually, if you don't use "perspective" in PS carefully, it will make your pic
looks unnatual. The annoying thing is that the 28mm lens make a straight line bent, and
sometimes we dont want it.
