Hm that is odd; might just be your connection? They're on Tinypic-- no protection or anything like that.

If anyone else can't see them, please speak up and I'll re-host, thanks.

I can't see them either. This happens to me about 1 in 20 posts, where there appear to be zero photos linked. Wierder still, when I check the page source code, the links are there, but when I copy a link address into the browser window, I still get a blank page. FireFox issue?

I see the shots just fine here.

A nice set of shots that probably need a bit of finishing work in PP (wrinkles in the background paper, some kind of crud on the baby's face).

Poor kid seems to be getting an eyeful of nose in #6.

Thanks, Pete. Besides #5, did I miss any other bkg crap?

I generally don't do baby skin smoothing unless it is really bad... plus I don't charge for these so I don't do a final edit until they ask for something larger than 4 x 6. I think that is just natural newborn flakiness, not some dried milk or something.

Very nice,

What kind of lighting setup did you use for the first one? Was it just off camera flash or a strobe?

Loving number 3, yeah it just looks like normal baby flakes to me I don't usually smooth out the babies skin either, it takes away from the newborn feeling and just makes them look like dolls.

Cheers, ML. All of them are done with the one 580 on an 8' stand w/ a Softlighter setup as a shoot-through. The room has white walls which adds a bit of fill and there is a large window to the left but I was overpowering it with this set @ f/6.3 to f/8 for most of the set.

This is another fake-o living room set. I don't even have a proper backdrop (hey, I'm a street photographer); that is a lastolite panel reflector as the background (with a black sheet over for some).

3,4,8 for me.

On 8, what was your lighting setup?

Nope. Any other crap I saw proved to be dust on my monitor.

It occasionally annoys me that the clone stamp doesn't work, until I figure out it's my monitor that's dirty.

Thank you!

#3 was an idea I was trying after seeing Cheetapita do it (oh wait, you can say that about all of my baby photos). The babe was awake for most of the time so I didn't get any of the 'puddle of baby sleeping in dad's hands' shots like I wanted but #3 did turn out pretty good anyway. I'll probably re-process it with a bit less contrast.

3,4,8 for me.

Thanks, SH. They're all really similar as I'm a one trick pony -- softlighter which I normally use as a shoot-through. I put the 580 in M, usually 1/2 power to get to f/8 @ ISO 100, and I put the wide angle lens down on it -- that way I can get really close with the light for a big, broad source.

I use the window on my left for fill sometimes but I think it was pretty much overpowered here. The white walls about 10 feet away from the background/light also provide some fill. Now that I look at it again I really need to get a hairlight/snoot setup for some additional highlights.

#8 is really just PP as the background was mostly white at the top and mid-grey below and had some wrinkles. This was another fast PP job; like 10 or 15 minutes so if they want a print, I'll do it again with a bit more care.

heheh thanks; I know I had one bad dust ball in the shots but I think I cloned the fix across.
