Riponian Stages Rally 2009

A few of my pics from the Riponian Stages. As Geoff stated in his post this was an excellent event, with some beautiful cars taking part, and excellent weeather to top it off. Shots taken with 1D Mk3 and 300mm f2.8 IS with and without 1.4x tc.

Great set of shots Kev and the weather was fantastic, I've got a touch of sunburn on my head (disadvantage of going thin on top:o), the last one is the pick of the bunch for me, the explosion of rocks behind show how hard Charlie was pushing

Thanks Ian. I know what you mean about the sunburn, as my head is rather red too :lol:. We were on the last stretch, before the finish on Roppa and the cars were really going for it when they came past, making it excellent veiwing.

Looks like the light was superb.
The yellow Escort contrasts wonderfully in that light and background as does the MG.

Good shots Kev, looks like you got to a fast setion there. The Charlie Payne shot stands out for me. Gutted i missed out on a good day

Nice work Kev. 7 & 8 my favourites. The colours stand out in the Roppa shots, see it was worth lugging that 300mm all that way!;) Hope you've managed to shovel all that dust from your bag, best close it next time.:lol:

Sorry you missed it Darren, i take it the wedding bash was a good one :D. The cars were pushing really hard on this stretch, which was leading up to the finish a few hundred yards further on.

Great shots Kev, seem to have some excellent DOF with the trees behind the cars, seems to make the cars stand out well

Cheers Peter. The results from the 300mm were great both with and without the 1.4 x tc attached. I always take it with me but often never get to use it, as the 70-200mm is more versatile.
