I think your watermark really takes away from the shot. Watch the focus on 1 and 2, they seem a bit soft. Try and get it on the eyes. Cute kids!

Thanks for the comments... I need to learn how to make and add watermarks... They do look like tatoos..lol

I don't use watermarks. If somebody really wants my photo they would take the time to clone them out anyway...
Besides focusing on the eyes, you might want to watch your backgrounds as well. I know how difficult it can be to get a clean background or a thin enough DOF to blur it out but it's well worth the effort.

I removed the ugly (tatoo looking) watermarks and made the photos a little smaller.

Very cute kids! The expression on #2 is awesome.
As C&C, others have mentioned everything. The 18-55 IS (which I have) is a good lens for the money but still not wide enough indoor to throw everything in the background off focus. And as a parent, I know it's almost impossible to stage the kids to pick and choose a clean background around the house. Sometimes, I have to crop heavily.
Is it me or the right eye in #3 is more focused than the left eye with both eyes at the same distance to the lens?

klpham71,
Thanks for the reply and C&C. I want to get this lens:

I want to rent it for my soon to be four year-olds birthday next month.
You're right about only one eye in focus....weird I must have been at an angle a little.

Cute kids.
With your older child moving., why not try and capture that? Part of him, it will tell a nice story… you know the boy that is always on the move. I try that with my boys and it seems to work well, as the photo captures who they are there personality…
One thing I did when I started out, was search forums of other peoples photo’s. I did this to see what works, I got some great idea’s that got me through. Now I just follow my kids around and out of 500 + photo’s I might get one that think “yes” I love this.
By the way, Your boys eyes are amazing!
and I'm still learnign so, what do i knwo lol my photo's arent anywhere near there but there are so many on here that are. all the best.

A shallower DOF would really help these photos pop. That and/or some dodging & burning...

My Wife was home today and she gave me a hand with our baby boy.
I wish I had more distance from where I am shooting but I'm pressed up on the light source (window) just to get the shots.

I like the lighting in the 2nd batch you added here. Nice :)

Took a stab at your first one from the 2nd series. Have an overall gray cast on it, so I upped saturation and contrast a bit then sharpened the eyes a bit and then the skin. I think the sharpening actually sharpened artifacts from your JPG conversion unfortunately, but I imagine you get the point lol. Great snap of your kid though, I bet you are having a ball with him!
Try some levels/curves on some of those images you posted, you might like what you come out with!
Edit: Looks like the "fixed" version turned out over saturated when uploaded to the hosting service. Its not that saturated on my version in CS3.
