Just got my camera Saturday and am still learning what the little lights and buttons do.
Went wandering around downtown on my lunchbreak today, playing with my new Rebel XT.
What do you think?

I like the 2nd and last shot... Those were shot with the kit lens?

I really like the atrium shot too.
Now you've gone and made me home sick! (Good thing I'll be going back for a visit on the 16th)
I'm looking forward to doing some night panos of the skyline while I'm in town. Since I see you work downtown, any suggestions for good spots to shoot from? My old boss used to have a penthouse at Summit Grandview . . . wish she still did, the views from her balcony were gorgeous! Trying to find another spot like that to shoot from - maybe a parking deck or hotel rooftop.
I welcome any suggestions you might have! :D
Congrats on the new camera & happy shooting!

Yep, straight from the box. The only accessory I have gotten so far is a decent strap

I am afraid I haven't a clue where the best place to do that would be. I have been trying to wangle an invitation into a couple of the taller buildings here myself. People are a bit odd about cameras these days. I had to get special permission to take pictures in and around my own office building from the management. I carry a card signed by the property manager so when I get stopped by security (twice yesterday) I can use it as a "Get out of jail free" card. :D

Welcome to the forum.
Nice shots - I like the waterfall one the best. Looks very appealing for a sunny day.

Nice shots. I need to do that here in NYC. What city is that?

Charlotte, NC
Not a bad little town, but with so many transplants from NY and Atlanta, it thinks it is a big city. :p

i like your shots a lot...
this is what i think-
#2 - could be straightened a bit
#5 - could be at more of an angle.tilted to the left more.
all of which can be done in PS Elements assuming you didn't buy some grey model.
good shots though!

How true that is! I do a lot of night photography and in the last few years the police have gone from treating me like "some crazy photographer who takes pictures in complete darkness" (their words not mine) to a possible terrorist. I now make it a point to stop in at the local police precincts and let them know that I'll be in their town that night and show them what I'm doing with a small sample book I carry with me. I've gone my entire life without ever needing a permit to shoot, and in the last 6 months alone I've had to apply and get approved for SIX!
The times they are indeed a changin'!!
