Do they make a case to carry the Calumet Genesis 400 flash head? I've searched there sight and can't find one. Is there a third party case that would work. I will be moving them alot and want to put them in a case. Thanks Christian

Hi, Christian -
I've had Genesis quite a while and never found a perfect case for them. A number of users have purchased plastic tool cases at Home improvement stores like the Stanley "FatMax" tool case that holds several lights and accessories ... and gives you the benefit of a hard case to protect your lights when hauling around.
I have four Genesis lights, so I ended up buying a larger Stanley case with castor wheels and a metal handle that's big enough to hold all my lights, 4 light stands, folded up accessories, cords - clamps - tools. Super convenient for my situation.

Thanks for the quick reply. Thats what I figured, I was debating between the Calumets and the JTL Versalight E 360s that come with a case. Based on what everyone is telling me I am going to go with the Calumets. Guess I'm going to Home Depot!
Tell me, have you used the calumet 4 channel trigger with your lights. I think I can get the trigger set with the extra reciever for less than $200. Thanks Christian

I use an old suitcase that my wife was goint to discard. Works very perfectly.
You do not want to buy a Pelican case that would offer an ultimate protection but costs as much as your lighting setup.

No - I've never tried the Calumet 4-channel triggers. I tried an ebay-style chinese brand of wireless trigger but the interference was so severe my lights were popping every 4 - 7 seconds (my studio was located next to a sports bar with lots of electronics, microwaves, etc.). So then I tried some Pocket Wizard II's, and only had 4 errant pops over the course of a long shoot, but their price is so high. Then I purchased Elinchrom's SkyPorts and tested them. Over a 4 hour shoot with several models - I didn't get a single errant flash. Not one. And they cost substantially less than Pocket Wizards so I've stuck with them.
Sorry - long answer, but I haven't tried Calumet's.

I'm one of the FatMax crowd. I bought that and some foam to line the area where the heads are kept. Hasn't let me down yet and you can put the world in this thing. Lotta space for the smaller things you may need.
I do like the one that viet posted, but no way no how would I buy that without seeing the insides first. sounds like a good deal though. The FatMax was $89, and the foam was $10ish....so for a few more dollars getting something that is made for what you want would be awesome.

I have something similar by RPS. Got it from Drury's for about $180 but can't seem to find it there now. An excellent bag, though. Comfortably stores three Genesis light heads, their reflector dishes, all chords and whatnot, plus a pouch in which I comfortably fit 5 umbrellas. Not to heavy, and wheels and handle to help. I'm real happy with it.

You are welcome and I'm glad to be of help. Mine been holding up well so far, only thing I wish were the push / pull handle like other roller cases, that'd make it perfect. For the price, it can't be beat.
