How does this sound to everyone, we extend the submission period to like Wednesday then voting from thursday to saturday, and new game on sunday. That way not only might I get a chance to go shoot, but maybe we will get a few more in here.
What do you think, If you all think no, then we can start voting, if it is good then we can get some more submissions???

Thats fine with me.

Extending is ok with me, or if you prefer we could add a second picture. My first choice was actually shot on the 13th so I had to change it. :)

ok well I suck at life, I got my fifty 1.8 today, got out of work early, went down to the lake to try to get some shots in between the rain. Got out and started to walk around took a few pictures, snapped a couple more, and realized that the screen was saying no CF card. I have like 12 SD cards but haven't bothered to get an extra CF card. When I got home from work today I instantly unpacked the fifty and took a couple test shots to make sure everything was good, well I left the card in my card reader, actually it is still there right now as I type this.
So to make a long story even longer, I didn't get any shots.
Go ahead and vote, sorry for sucking at participating in the contest that I try to keep alive :D

Wow only four submissions this week. Oh well, better than none. Maybe we should give away a free toaster with every submission to get more participants .
Mullhawk, the fact that you are keeping this going is good enough, and we all appreciate it very much :D!
Ok, here's my vote.
rdguy - I really like this ice formation
A very close second is Kiwichris' Lake Waihola. (That sounds Hawaiin to me for some reason ;))

Yeah I think rdguy takes it away, I love the colour and contrasts, ssracer's 'snail view' is interesting but a little bland for my taste.
BTW 'Waihola' is a NZ Maori name, they are Polynesian descent as are the Hawaiians :)
I am shifting home, in fact taking a longish road trip ending I am not sure where yet, (See my flickr for maps) so in a couple of weeks I will be off the air for possibly quite some time.
Please send toaster, mine just broke

My vote goes to Kiwichris, I think you did a great job on the rule of thirds, and I like the contrast. The greens are vibrant. My compliments to ssracer and ckort as well, as I found your shots very interesting as well.

Good luck and have fun on your road trip! Please take lots of photos to share when you return. NZ is one of those places I must visit during my short time here on earth ;).

Yeah, will do. Planning a bit of a tour to do just that from the deep south of NZ. Was thinking I may get a laptop, but doubt I will be able to afford one, so will be using non IS kit lenses (my IS has broken  ) and will just have to make do with some big memory cards, which hopefully I can afford.
Just wondering, maybe this comp gets started from scratch again, possibly the first post with 'user is banned from forums' is off putting?
Thanks for the comments every one much appreciated, now what is the next subject? I have a few days

I asked everyone a while ago if I should start a new main thread. I think we can just use each weeks thread from now on, or I can start a new one with the next comp. Unless somebody else wants to take it over?
Looks like rdguy is the winner of this and can choose the next topic which I will post a new thread later today or tomorrow, depending on when he gets back with a new one.
Again if anyone has any suggestions on ways to get more submissions fire away...

Thanks for the votes. Nice to be in the competion and not have a dud picture. How about "Up Close" as the next challenge. Something with a little background blur. Here is a bonus picture for you. I wanted to submit this but I took it before the allowed date. Enjoy, and if everyone is alright with it "Up Close" is the next challenge. :)

I do not have a macro lens, can I use my Fuji? *Chris ducks*
More on the road trip, just picked up my 'new' caravan, already had the tow vehicle, it is an Isuzu Bighorn Lotus version. Bit of drama coming home, blew fan belt, which took out the other belts (it has 3), got very hot, lost the brakes and steer. Limped into a small town Balclutha, at about 6 pm, eventualy had an auto electrician turn up, sorry no belts, but I can get them and give you a loan car to get home in (Ilive around 25 mins away). Took him up on the offer, should all be running again tomorrow late afternoon.353496

I dont have a macro lens, but I figured I can use my 18-55 or maybe my 50mm 1.8 . On the original Flower challenge my 18-55 did the trick.

What are the dates for the new challenge? Sunday to Sunday again, or are we going a bit longer?
mullhawk
1st of April 2009 (Wed), 05:52
they can go longer if everyone would like, I can change it till weds. that way we have more time to shoot and submit, and less time to have to wait for voting.
Also I made a new discussion thread, well I started one, but have other more important things to do right now, like drive my wife to the hospital
but here it is :D
