In January I was looking at buying a new digital camera. I had an A80 and wanted something better. After doing some research on the Net and looking at the pictures taken by various cameras I came to the conclusion that I liked the 20 D the most.
Well...not in my budget, so I baught a G6 instead from "Henrys" for $908 Can.
Shortly after I purchased this camera I started reading about the Rebel 350 XT.
Well on our family vacation I talked the wife in to buying this. ( Of course she got a whole pile of clothes )
Some of you might have seen my posts for the G6 for sale that I went as low as
$600 and had no bites, well now the wife said she wants it for herself.
My point here is that if I would have baught the 20D in the first place I probably would be ahead and have gotten what I wanted!!!
Hopefully before I die I will understand what patience and common sense is.

The two cameras together cost as much as the 20D. I would have bought the 20D also.

Look on the bright side. . . yo have 2 quality cameras. You have the RebelXT as your dslr and your G6 as your compact advanced P&S when you want to pack light . . . yeah, your wife wanted it, but you could still say they're both yours http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

You're in for a surprise man. It should've been the 20D even now... you just haven't realized it. :p
I made the same mistake with S1 IS. The thing cost me 700 canadian... I was so pissed, I bought the rebel soon after.
Make sure you don't buy lenses that way!

bah, no use crying over spilt milk. Just enjoy that you realized that you would like a DSLR better, as it suits your personal need better. On the other hand, you will have the G6 as a P&S that you can swindle from your wife when you are ready.
So don't worry, all things happen for good reasons.

I have champagne taste with imported beer pockets. But my wife tells me to get what I want the first time around, because otherwise she knows I will either return it or trade it in or sell it used to get what I should have gotten in the first place.
So, why didn't I listen? I went from the D100 to the 10d to the 20d to my dream machine, the 1dsmkII. (and I still get only one keeper out of 25-40 shots.)
