I have a Flatscreen display in my store front window showing a presentation. It is powered by my laptop. Just like the lights in the window, I would like to have it turn on and off by timer. Anyone know of any free software that might do this. I understand it might just put it in hibernate and wake it up. That is fine. I just want it to be able to have a break without me haveing to run to the studio every night to shut it off. Or on, on the weekends for that matter. Thanks in advance.

Do you know how to write batch commands? a simple shell command would work and then use Windows scheduler to start the batch command and then one to end the program, so 2 batch commands and 2 scheduled tasks, schedule them to run at a particular time each day and you should be set

Will your TV hibernate without a signal and turn back on when it senses it?

Its not a TV. Its a Monitor.
And no, I am not familiar with batch commands...

Some laptops/desktops have auto on/off settings in the BIOS. Check there first.

You should be able to do it with just the task scheduler. Just set the start time and then tell it to stop the task if it runs for X hours. X being how long you want it to run. You can also tell it to "Wake the computer to run this task."
