Been a while...

It's been a while since I've posted here. I though I'd post a couple recent shots. The first photo was taken outdoors, in open shade, with a 48" gold reflector. The second photo was taken with three shoe mount flashes and a 42" gold reflector. Thanks for looking.

Number 1 is my favourite and a cracking shot. I just wish there was more definition to the bottom of her chin. As it goes out of focus it starts to blend with her neck and is a little odd. Apart from that its a cracker. Two seems a little too hot in places.

Richie, those are some lovely shots!!! The gold reflector really adds something to the pictures. Hope not too long before you post more . . .

nice shots...i'm just startingt to do portraits, any tips for me?

what type of background did you use on #2 paper or muslin? i'm not sure which to invest in yet.

and lighting -
#1 - i'm assuming natural light & fill flash on subjects right

#2 - one soft box and gold reflector below

any tips would be great. i probably will only be doing on-location/natural light stuff for now as i can't afford a studio but ya know the more i know now the better. thanks

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm glad you guys liked them. The first shot was with available light and the gold reflector only. The ISO 100 exposure was 1/400 at f/2.8; I fudged the focus on her left eye as a result.

For the background in the second shot, I used a large white foam core board. I used a Sigma EF 500 DG at 1/4 power on a small background stand to light it. The subject was lit from 12 o'clock high with a Sunpak PZ5000AF in a Photoflex 24"x36" Litedome. I used a 42" gold reflector underneeth the main light to fill the shadows - it was about the same height as the subjects stomach. The third light was placed about 7 o'clock slightly above her head. A snoot was mounted on the light as well as an amber gel. The snoot is a home brew design (i.e. Pringles can, paper cup, lots of electrical tape). It was made to fit over the head of the Sunpak PZ5000AF for $3 ;) I'll try to take some photos of the setup this afternoon.
