Been a while since I've posted, so time to do some catching up:
The Black Dahlia Murder played Atak, and even though I didn't have to shoot them, I decided to bring my camera just in case I got bored
Glad I did, was a fun show:
Some random shots, entire gallery here (http://www.moonglade.net/~rene/090221_BDM/index.html).
Everything ISO 3200
1) Overview from the back of the venue:

2) From the same spot, using the 80-200:

3) Whoa! Blinded by flash!

4) From the balcony

5) The photographer that was working that night had a new 5DMk2, and used his Sigma 10-20mm. Quite fun images, but you need to get close...

Equipment used: Loaner 1DMk2, 20 through 200mm

Very nice captures and I'm pleased that singer shaves his armpits before exposing himself to all those young ladies! :-) So, I hope that isn't Anouk with flash in front of you!

Uhmm.... Dwight, the photographer with the 5D2 and 10-20 is actually pretty male. AFAIK I'm still female...
Besides that, I didn't really dare to get that close. Didn't really feel like joining the moshpit. :p

Um, I don't think so ... you can only see her hands: one on the grip with part of the camera strap and one underneath the body supporting it ... a very feminine indication of wrist/hand strength. Also the fingers of the right hand seem slender and feminine to me. I would have been sure it was you if I had seen red hair. As far as "daring", I don't have that sort of venue and besides, I thought you were quite daring! :-)

His hands ;)
You can see a bit of him in the last image. Black haired dude with a beard .
Here you can see him a bit clearer:
Allow me to introduce Mathijs ;)

Singer is pointing at him here:

A few more shots of the night, including ones from Anouk and Mathijs can be found on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/atak/pool/page3/.
Might require a bit of flipping pages, since Flickr sorts by date added, and mine were added rather late, while Mathijs and Anouk added theirs earlier, so they are on page 3. (for now)

I'll tell the guy he's got girls hands... Wonder if he would like that or not. And Dwight, I consider myself a bit too small for the moshpit most of the time, especially with this kind of bands.

good set...good capture of the 'the claw' in the flashed shot.
hey, why do metal bands over there play w/ plenty of front-lighting? why are we cheated out of this? and w/ so much light, what was the guy w/ 5D2 using a flash for??

i like last two shots of first pack. red light above gave nice heat to stage in contrast with cold logo backdrop

The crowd shots are great... While the half naked guy is ... well... let's just say somewhat of a turn off.

Hahaha. I wouldn't call it "plenty" of light; I was shooting ISO 3200 for a reason ;)
Was pretty fast changing as well.
Mathijs is a bit allergic to noise I think, and shoots a lot of hardcore. I think flash is more "normal" in that genre. Also, the angle he was shooting at (when the singer was bending to the audience), as well as the lens (Sigma 10-20) made flash more needed.
Fixed the link in my previous post, go have a look for two different views of the show ;)

Hmmm, maybe I will start a TBDM-thread myself too, would be nice I think. Different: yes ;)
