I've contacted the software manufacturer regarding example benchmarks for graphic rendering timeframes in conjunction with various Windows machine specs. However, they simply provided minimum specs with no additional information. Can anyone elaborate on what machine specs would provide optimum rendering times? Currently I have a Dell Optiplex 410 with dual 600Mhz CPUs, 512SDRAM, 128MB video memory and the rendering times take anywhere from 4 to 5 hours. The vendor did confirm that the respective software doesn't take advantage of hyperthreading so at least I know dual processors aren't beneficial....

Thanks in advance

600MHZ? Is it a Pentium 1/2 or something? I don't know anything about that package, but video rendering (if it's video) takes massive amonuts of power, even more than photography/photoshop. If I were you i'd get myself a fast P4 or Athlon with 1GB RAM minimum. In fact I just did :) If you wait a few months dual core chips will be out, they will be a huge leap in performance for multi-threaded applications like photoshop.

600 MHz would be a PIII or Xeon (maybe a Celeron). In this case, I think PIII.
