I shot these from a NASA tower that was situated about 4 miles directly south of Pad 39A. This particular location gives a unique shot of the pad as can be seen here. I used a 1200mm focal length lens setup to bridge the gap between me and the orbiter.Specifically, a Canon 1 DsMII with a F/4 600mm lens with a 2X on it.

I'm hoping to go to the one in May. There aren't many shuttle launches left from what I can tell. The program is coming to a close in the next year or so.

Wow! I missed it due to waiting on my new camera but got to watch it from my shop in central florida. best one I had seen in a long time!
