Wooo I like it. Looks like the sort of image you see in wildlife magazines. Maybe more DOF would have been good?

Hate to step on them! They look worse than the fire ants we have here.

Neat picture that leaves my skin itching and feeling like somethings crawling all over me. *shivers*

Thanks. That's just happened last weekend when I was at my wife's parents. Was in the garden and had my (first and new) camera with me. I've allways been fascinating about ants colonyes.
I didn't had the tripode so I've just get down on my knees and take this picture.

(All you gouys...you have to excuse my poor English since is not my "native" language)

Hate to step on them too ! And that's only because I appreciate them so much ;). Maybe they look, but they aren't so worse.
Thanks for you comment :)

Honestly speaking, after taking this pictures (distance from subject was just 3-4 centimeters) I had some of them crawling over me
But it's ok with me. And I guess that's come from my fathe who used to go fishing and sometimes used to fish with ants. Yes. Many times I've seen him putting his hand in the middle of an ants house (I don't know if this is the corect term :o), wait few seconds, and when his hand was allover covered with ants he just shake them in a plastic bag.;)

That's new , I've never heard fishing with ants, did he catch anything with them?

A photo from a higher vantage point would be better but a little hard to acheive.

No need to worry about your English, you're doing fine. Hey it's my native language, and I don't do so well sometimes myself    and it's the only language I know.

Thank you all for your comments and attention. :)
In fact next week I guess I'll be there again and I'll try some more shots to this colony.
This one in fact I did just to play a little with my camera...with f/stop and manual focus.

Yes he did and I did too when I was a kid :). Just put 3-4 those ants in the fish hook and go for it ! ;)

They are good for bleaks ( a lake fish ) and especially those with red middle for chubs ( a river fish ).

Wow, that's interesting, I thought fish only liked worms cuz that's all I've ever fished with as a bait! Never heard of those fish, can't even tell you the names of the ones I've caught unless you know Swedish, I really hate to go dig out my dictionary! LOL
