This little woodfrog is about 25mm to 33mm long.( approx. 1 1/4 inches ).This shot is a little sharper than my previous attempt. Their mating call is heard early in the spring, usually from early April until June.

Great shot and DOF. What sort of noise do they make?

Their call is a repetitive ' peep-peep-peep ' and when heard by the thousands is quite a deafening chorus but something we wait for with anticipation in the evening. During April they are vocal within the hummocks of grasses at the margin of the aquatic breeding site. They will retreat underneath the stems and leaves if the temperature drops during the night. May is the height of the breeding season.

OH COOL! I was just telling DH last week if he ever caught one to show me, I've heard them these 5 years living in the US and still have yet to see one. We hear them all darn spring but never see them. Thanks for sharing, something I can scratch off my list now I suppose. =o) OMG, I just noticed how small they were, DH was trying to tell me that catching one would be near impossible cuz they're so small, I didn't realize they were THAT small. How did you capture this one?
