No need for pristine, just must be in excellent working condition and any issues must not affect image quality. Can have cosmetic "needs!" :)
MUST be Image Stabilized! I just sold my f/2.8 of this lens to fund a trip and now may have some tax money to get the f/4 which was my original plan (was going to trade lenses, then ended up selling outright on the f/2.8 to fund this trip).
