Yes, April 7th it is !!
Cant believe its one year already :-)
We met in February last year & got married on April 7th with both sides families happily participating (less than three months of knowing each other, pretty amazing considering our nationality is different).

It was like everything fell into right place at the right time. As my wife keeps on saying "it all happened because god wanted it to happen that way !" We are still learning each other but seems like we are surviving beautifully :-)

OK here is what you would like to hear  . I got an L & canon EF 100 mm macro approval as gift from Kaori at this occasion. I couldn't made up my mind yet as to which L, though I got my 100 mm macro today !

I am normally shy to talk personal occasions but since this is a nice & friendly community, I decided to share.

Cheers :-)
- Raj

Happy Anniversary! Your story sounds similar to mine altho the only difference is we had to fight INS before we could marry. ;o)

Congratulations! Your story is very inspiring. My parents aren't too estatic about me marrying another race/culture. Even though I have no plans of doing so, I'll be afraid of what happens if I do fall in love with someone that's not the same as me. I won't stop myself, but it'll be interesting to say the least.

Thanks everybody.
hickory, no plans for kids yet but who knows :-)
Sue, whats INS ?
Kev, I consider myself lucky because families on both side are quite open minded so there were no problems at that front. As far as race/culture difference is concerned, I can say one thing from my experience that this never was a issue. I can say all depends on individual characters & attitude rather than culture difference etc.
So if you love someone someday, dont try to stop it :-)

Sue, whats INS ?

An EVIL government program that doesn't do anything but suck money out of you and give you a whole lot of grief. In short, the American Immigration System, stands for Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), I think they changed their name recently to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
We've dealt with them for 6 years now, from getting my fiance visa to be able to immigrate and marry my fiance here in the US, to getting a temporary status as my fiance visa ran out and the long process of actually getting the green card. I'm so thankful I don't have to lay another eye on INS for another 8 years or so when my 10 year card expires. =oP BLAH!

Thanks Anteros.
Sue, sorry to hear that. Having seen quite a few cases like your here, I can understand what you have been through. Hopefully INS will be dissolved by the time you need a renewel. 8 years is a long period :-)

Congratulations. I can barely recall the first year I was married, but I'm sure I had a very good time. 43 years later, my wife assures me I absolutely did enjoy myself.

You make a lovely couple.
Remember, the correct answer is: "I'm sorry dear, why was I thinking!"

Congrats Raj. "...married in India.." Too vague for me. Its like someone saying they got "married in Europe". What city? Most likely guess from me - Bangalore/Madras?

Carzee,
Both Japanese & Indian culture are very traditional & have traditional marriage ceremonies in which a priest performs rituals in front of god & declares couple to be husband & wife. Its like getting married in church.
Since I am the elder son in family, my parents had quite some dreams for my marriage. so although I registered marriage in court in Japan, we went to India to have a proper marriage ceremony. It was held in my hometown called "Bhilai". Its a small town famous for steel plant & shows up on google. Its in Central India, while Madras/Banglore are in Southern India.

Thanks for your wishes :-)
