I am going to sell matted (with cardboard matt not foam board) 8x10 pictures at a local dive shop for $30.00 each. I feel that is a fair price as my cost for preparing the pictures runs about $2-3 (I got the matt kits for about $1.50, and each print costs me about that to print). I intend to give 10% to the shop for allowing me to put them there on consignment. That leaves $24.00 per shot for my time and effort.

I realize that many charge twice this amount or more but I am selling to divers, who unfortunately are usually pretty cheap on anything that isn't directly related to gear (gee, just like photographers!). Anyway I wanted to see if most or any out there agree with my reasoning or feel I am way undercharging.

If I was going to a craft show I would probably charge more, but at the dive shop I don't believe I can get more than that.

Thanks.

Mike

Like anyone else selling a product, you charge what the market will bare. It $30 is all that market will pay then thats what you charge.
Keep in mind that an increase volume can make up for less profit per unit. If you can sell 100 of them @ $30 or 300 @ $25 that seems like a simple decision to me.

Yes, I would tuck in just below that if that seems to be the price point. $28?

Sounds reasonable. I will see what happens and maybe do a reduction if warrented.

Thanks!
