I really like it. I bought it for my 5DII and I like it so much I am going to pick up another for my 1DIII. It has everything I have been looking for in a strap. Good QR system, strong, comfortable and good length adjustment.

I'm also a big fan of this strap. The rubber undersurface of the shoulder pad holds it in place while the strap slides through as I lift the camera from hip to eye level. Can't beat it for security. I use one on each of my cameras as well.

I love my CarrySafe 100 as well. The D rings are great for easy release and the feeling of security is just a plus! I just wish they made the strap slightly wider where the shoulder/neck would be. It is a tad bit too narrow for complete comfort.
With that said, I'm actually considering purchasing the CS 200 to replace the default LowePro strap on my camera bag.

I'm happy with mine as well. I wear it sling style (like the R-Strap), and it's really comfortable. It has a couple of added bonuses over the R-Strap. One is that my camera isn't twisting, it's always in the same orientation. Another is that I don't have to remove it to mount the camera to a tripod.
Definitely a great $20 spent.
Oh, if anyone has the older model, you should contact them. I was told they'd replace mine if I received the older model. (the newer model has a buckle with eyelets).

My understanding is that what's out there now has a "buckle" style attachment rather than a slip-through, as do most straps. The new model will go back to the slip-through, with added protection against loosening.
However, I have one of each, one buckle and one slip through, neither has even the potential to loosen.

I'll restate my two cents. Usually a manufacturer doesn't make changes just for changes sake. If I had the original I'd contact them for the newest model. I have the buckle version and I'm wondering why they've redesigned things again. It makes me a bit nervous so I'll probably send it in for the newest version (I might just sew it for a permanent solution).

It's definitely quick if you want to remove and replace it. But, it's also their improved system, over their original slip through design.
And, you're in luck. As you know, tvphotog reports that they've redesigned the strap again and are going back to the slip through design.

mine has the buckle and tang. it's certainly seems to my engineer-trained mind to be sufficiently sturdy. don't forget that these types of products are just as frequently redesigned for cost reduction as for consumer benefit. the slip-through is probably just cheaper to produce.

Now the question is, are any of you using the supplied "O" key ring to attach the strap to your camera body or using the actual strap to loop it through your camera's metal bar thingy?

Mine arrived today--- I put it on my new body-- and put the second one in my drawer-- now I have 6 pacsafe straps! They are great.
I did not use the ring - but used the soft loop so I dont scratch the camera body. I do so a potential weakness with the plastic catch that the locking clip hooks to-- this would not be the case if you used the ring and secured the metal catch to the ring-- but then again it would scratch the body-- at least when the ring moved around (yep I am anal).

i think the metal loop is there to connect to the metal eyelets of some cameras, including several Nikons. I've tossed them and connect the nylon strap directly to the body of the camera.

The sleeves prevent knife attacks? I can see preventing wear and tear to the camera, and preventing someone from accessing the quick release buckles.
On another note, how many folks actually use the QR? I never do and find them annoying/unnecessary.

I have the camera across my chest, and on my hip, sometimes behind the hip. If the webbing straps were visible, it'd be the perfect place to make a slash. The sleeves put it "out of sight, out of mind," or at least almost impossible to get to.
When I'm at home or at a relative's, I take the strap off and use my Markins handstrap which is always on the camera.

Yes, look at a photo of a Nikon D700, and you'll see the two tiny metal eyes that those rings are for. If you have a real camera like a Canon, you can toss the loops and use the webbing directly on the camera attachments.

The slip through is the same type of plastic slip-in-and-out device that is on every 3/8" webbing strap on the market (See photo red circles.) The buckle device (see photo blue circle) is seen below, like a belt buckle. Both are excellent and neither will let the camera go unintentionally.
Dan Burman from PacSafe told me that they went to the buckle when there were two reports of unintentional release from the slip through, which he feels were due to improper assembly of the strap by the two owners. PacSafe is now going back to the slip through with the next strap release. When you think about it, he must be right, because there must be millions of neck straps, wrist straps and handstraps from dozens of companies out there with this standard slip-through, and no one reports issues with them.
With the quick release does that negate any security you get from the strap? Just curious.
No. The quick release is covered by a Neoprene sleeve that stays in place over the short webbing connector. You cannot move it easily for a slash and grab, also a thief will have no idea what's under the neoprene anyway. It's easily pushed out of the way to release the camera when you want to.

I was in ROME for 10 days and had the Pacsafe 100 strap on my 5D and 30D. I extended the strap on one camera and used it as a shoulder-sling and the other as a neck strap. Yes, IMHO, it does. Those criminals that have no idea where the weak point could possibly attack that area by luck. Those criminals that know what they're looking at will know where the weak spot is.
The weak spot is there, but it doesn't bother me.

This is a DIY solution to the same problem. I'm thin and in a T shirt with a 5D2 and a 100-400 across the chest, the pad was digging into my shoulder. I took an Optech Super pro, cut off the tabs, and sewed the pad with heavy carpet thread to the bottom of the PacSafe pad. It's the best of both worlds. Solved the problem for the warmer months when I don't want to wear a jacket.
Apparently PacSafe is coming out with a deluxe model, essentially this same heavier-padded pad with the same double-wire strap. But I didn't want to wait a year or so.

But by attaching it to the Pacsafe pad, don't you lose the stretch of the Optech pad ? Also, that's buying or using 2 straps, and the associated cost, to make 1. I'll check around. Isn't there a Kevlar strapped unit made by someone out there. I remember reading a thread here a long time ago about it. Might be a better and cheaper solution for me, when I travel....since I do often travel and shoot in less than completely safe locations.

Check the UP strap, that's the kevlar one. http://upstrap-pro.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PLST
It's basically for abrasion resistance. Though it resists penetration, I don't think it resists cutting. And I suspect you do lose some stretching of the Neoprene pad from the Optech, but I was more concerned about comfort in carrying a heavy body and lens.
I figure if I can bring myself to spend $4000 on a body and lens, I can spend $20 each on two straps and combine them.
Or you can wait for the new PacSafe Deluxe model.

This strap is very comfortable and wears well. What I DON'T like about it is that it doesn't fold very well for storage in your bag (due to the wire). Of course that's the nature of the beast being that the wire is there for a reason. Still, it's somethign to consider. I went back to a pro loop strap personally. I'm normally shooting out in the middle of nowhere...might be different if I shot downtown a lot. :)

No, I don't think so. The locking clip is the only attachment I've ever seen. It's the one I have and I bought version 2. The only difference between V1 & V2 is that V2 uses a buckle attachment instead of the slip through. V3 is coming and it's going back to the slip through. That's all the versions, I think, and that's why I'm surprised that Pacsafe, who always used the locking clip, would go to a simple clip. I wonder if that picture is correct or if it was a prototype someone was considering.
I don't see anything about the non-locking clip on their website. Where's the guy who knows there CEO (tvphoto ???)?

I bought my PacSafe for a trip to DC and NYC. But I don't think it is nearly as comfortable as the POTN strap, so I switched it back. If I need to use it, it's there, but I think I like the rubber bumps of the OpTech/POTN strap much better in hot weather.

I bought my PacSafe for a trip to DC and NYC. But I don't think it is nearly as comfortable as the POTN strap, so I switched it back. If I need to use it, it's there, but I think I like the rubber bumps of the OpTech/POTN strap much better in hot weather.
any others care to comment on comfort?
and also foldability of the strap for stuffing into an already tight bag?

That's what I thought when I got it, "only 20 bucks." Then I liked it so much that I bought a second one for another camera.
I've worn it all day carrying the 5d2 and 25-105 with a speedlite without discomfort, and you can twist the strap in one or two figure 8's to put it in a bag. The cables are very flexible. I use a handstrap as well, and when I'm shooting alot, I make a loop of the strap and put it around my wrist with my hand in the handstrap,
The pad on the strap is what distributes the weight better. I've heard of people who make the pad even more comfortable using a Domke Postman's strappad (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/16198-REG/Domke_725_310.html)which wraps around the PacSafe pad with Velcro closures. I had an old Optech Pro strap, and my wife who is an accomplished seamstress, sewed the neoprene of the Optech under the PacSafe pad, another solution( see p. 4 of this thread.)The strap itself slips through the pad so that the pad stays on your shoulder when you swing up the camera to your eye.
I sometimes carry the strap across my chest with the camera behind one hip, esp in tight places, and in that position, a simple nylon strip connector is a setup for just a pair of scissors, let alone a box cutter for a slash and grab theft. If you just want a strap for your neck and will have your hands on the camera all the time, maybe the PacSafe is not necessary for you. It depends how sketchy are the areas you travel to. But I still think this is a very comfortable strap.
The strap is adjustable to all lengths, and any setup you carry with will work.

so what do you use as the "nylon strip connector"? anything stronger than that came with the carrysafe?

The nylon webbing 3/8" connector sits under the neoprene sheath when you walk around with the strap. Not only does that keep the strip out of sight so that no one can see how the strap is attached to the camera, but you can't cut through the neoprene easily at all, even with a boxcutter.
When you want to disengage the camera, you pull up the neoprene and unclip it.

I don't use the Pacsafe 100 camera strap, but I do use the Pacsafe 200 bag strap. That is one comfortable strap. I put it on my Think Tank UD70 and carried the UD for up to 10 hours a day. No sure muscles or neck at all. It sure gives you peace of mind walking around the streets with that strap. It rolls up into a fairly compact bundle for stuffing in a pocket if you don't use it, so I imagine the 100 strap would be even easier to stuff in a pocket.

I use the Pacsafe 200 on my Lowepro Stealth Reporter 300 instead of the OEM strap. The Pacsafe shoulder pad is better than the OEM, and when I'm in urban areas shooting, I have the bag strap across my chest and the bag and a couple lenses on my right hip, and the camera strap across to the left. I feel perfectly OK because of the combined Pacsafe safety.

got a pacsafe 100 a few months ago and although its great for security the comfort factor is pretty bad. i only have a gripped rebel +24-105L, which isnt as heavy (i think) as a full frame. it tends to dig into my neck and gets more uncomfortable as the day wears on. went back to my op/tech because of this.
gave the pacsafe to my GF to use with her oly pen and she didnt like it either because it doesnt really "fold". she took out the strap on her lowepro shoulder bag and put the pacsafe instead. now its perfect.
