Yam, Yam, I just had that for dinner yesterday night. :p
I would say its kind of boring, you need to work on the DOF. The background is too clear and its distracting. If I am right, its a bit dark. It could be my monitor.

Nice shot. Did you make the grub, looks very tasty!
I would wipe around the edges of both plates as there is some residual food bits there, remove the glass and find a neutral background such as a white or black card. Position yourself directly overhead, looking down at the two dishes. Now take the shot.
Also try and isolate the one plate (the big one) fill the frame completely of the contents, try and not put any of the plate on the borders and shoot that.
Where are the chopsticks? Do you have red ones, place those in the big plate and take a DOF shot of that. Also try looking from the end of the chopstick, down it's length into the food. Take a DOF shot of that with focus point halfway down the length of the sticks.

Thanks a lot!
It's in a restaurant. I do lack of experience on shooting this, and I was hungry at that time. :)
Maybe next time, I'll pose it.

another thing i'd suggest is the lighting. very white flourescent (ie harsh) lighting makes the food less appealing than it really is. you'll notice that many restaurants use 'warm' (ie yellowish) lighting. food just looks better under warm lighting . you can easily adjust the lighting in photoshop.

I think you adjust too much, it looks too red and unnatual.

the lighting was exaggerated to show the differences, and YOURE too red and unnatural! lol :P
