You know you're addicted to photography when you're watching the making of Sports Illustrated, with beautiful semi-naked girls in exotic locations, and you think to yourself "wow, look at the camera that guy's using!" ;)

In my defense I also appreciated the models, but i've seen them before, whereas I hadn't seen what I guess is a medium format camera :lol:

While watching the Superbowl this year, my eye's lit up and I said "Ooohhh, I WANT that". My wife was understandably concerned as there just so happened to be a couple of scantily clad cheerleaders on the screen at the time - but it was the photographer's DSLR with the giant L telephoto lens that I was lusting after. :) (Which probably should have caused greater dread: my chances of having a scantily clad NFL cheerleader even give me the time of day are about zero; the chances of me putting us deep into debt buying thousands of dollars of photographic equipment are much higher.)

the canographer in the pic above is probably having a good day... OTOH he is wearing a sunhat and a windbreaker.... so its a bright blustery -dusty- day?

And where/how is he carrying his monopod?

It was about 50 degrees F - and windy. Sunburn got me as I had my racing hat on instead of a sun hat. :)

Not sure about whether or not he had a monopod. They had some strategic holes cut in the fence in specific areas, but only pros (like him) had access to those spots. He might have been able to rest his lens on the wall at one of those spots. This track is pretty short for the 500 or 600 that he was carrying, unless he was looking down the back straight from turn 3.
