I was reading my Bible one morning and the sun started shining through our window. It seemed like a good time to get my new 85 f1.8 out. This was one of the first pics I took with it.
Your comments and feedback are very welcome.

I see this has had some looks, but with no responses. Does anyone have anything to say about it?
I don't know much about Photoshop yet so this is exactly as it looked without any editing.

I really like the picture and the subject.
Nice work.

I'm not sure what the focus of the photo should be, the bookmark, the yellow highlight or a particular verse.
There is a distracting dark area in the lower left of the photo. I would bring up the exposure so you can see the edges of the pages and maybe the leather cover (if it is leather)
John 8:12 would be a neat verse in keeping with the photography theme.

The contrast of the red marker and the white paper was my first focus idea but I agree that the dark corner is a bit much. I also like the verse John 8:12. Maybe I'll have to do it again. :)

It's a great idea. My 2 cents:
- the red bookmark is great, but this one is too red - distracts.
- perhaps consider reversing your lighting and dof. By that I mean this: your focal point is in shadows and your OOF points are lighted. Instead, have your focal point in the lighted part (to draw viewers attention to the subject area) and have your shadows taper up (increase) as the focus tapers off (decrease) (if that made any sense at all).

If you ask me, I am distracted by the fact that there is highlighted text out of focus.

I think I agree. It might be better if the focus was the highlighted verse.

I think a slightly wider view might improve this shot.

Hmmm... As I expected, I guess that means I failed to communicate that idea in post #6.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.
