Are there softboxes that use a rod to attach to a studio light (or adapter), like an umbrella would?
I seem to remember reading about some but I can't find anything.
I know about the Softlighter but I'm looking for something smaller....maybe 20x20 or 12x12, something in that neighborhood.

Westcott Apollo Series.
Incredibly well liked too.
I think they make a 16x16, 28x28 and a 50x50

I've just read many people's opinion on the Apollos, and I don't think they are the right choice for me.
I'm looking for a small softbox (preferably foldable and preferably inexpensive) to work with AB lights. Any suggestions?

Yeah yeah, Well it got alot of recommendation from the One Light Workshop DVD, and hence, alot of people have bought them since. I just know they're constantly out of stock at vendors, and I ordered one a week or so ago, and I was told yesterday it'll be 2 weeks before I see mine

Big Mike why so small like 12x12? That small you don't need it to be foldable. I have medium 24x32 photoflex SB on my AB800 and I just carry the whole thing as is. It doesn't weight anything.
If you want foldable, look at AB foldable ones. Quite nice for the money.
Edit - Smallest one from AB is 24x32.

I want to try a softbox for my hair light. Right now I'm using the standard reflector and honeycomb girds and I just want something softer. I'm thinking that a small softbox with a grid would be a good option. Maybe 12x12 isn't big enough to really soften the light enough...but 16x16 would be a nice size.
I've got the large foldable softbox from PCB...and it's great. But they don't seem to make/sell a small sized softbox...and I'm thinking that the medium is too big for a hair light.
I've been considering the PCB strip box. This would be great for a hair light on groups...so maybe I could use it for singles as well.
Maybe I could make something myself. If it's not too big, it wouldn't have to be foldable....hmmmm

I am using AB stip box for hair light. It works quite nice. If I am shooting single person, I keep it so that the long side is going forward/backwords so the the subject moved to front/back, I don't have to move the hair light. For multiple people, I keep it left/right so they all get some light. I also bought grids for it. Works real well with my AB400.
