Here's some shots of my boys being themselves. The zoo shots (2-4) really pushed my meager skills from trying to rapidly change camera settings from inside (number 2) to out. At least they are better than my last zoo shots with a P&S in which eveything inside was washed out by flash and all outside shots were too dark or blown out.

I'm also interested in suggestions on blurring out the animals in the backgrounds of 3 and 4. I consider my boys to be the focus and the animals are just somewhat interesting background.

All C&C welcomed to help me improve.

Some nice shots... You can play with the temperature or the white balance to improve the colour rendering... To blur the animals further, you need to shoot with a larger aperture (smaller number). This will give you a smaller depth of field and thus blur the bg and any animals in it. I think my favourite here is the second one. Pure concentration shown there. Thanks for sharing

Michael, thanks for the comments. I kept the maximum aperature (smallest number) for each shot. However, I did zoom on some shots and the kit lens is not very fast. Do you think the animals need more blur?
