Sorry all from same corner. Adelaide is a street circuit and without stand pass views are minimal

Fords look sexy, but that Holden with the Good 'Ol Jackie on the hood is really cool!!!!
Very sharp and clean, Raptor. Great images.

Thanks guys
All with 70-200. Only think I have with reach to get past the bloody mesh fence which in most cases is 2 metres away at minimum:(

Fantastic shots. the 70-200 did a fine job! Love the sharpness you got with it.

nice shots!, i was lucky to be up in a caltex stand, but... it turned out to be more of a "seat and eat" than a nice open view at the track, so any shots were 99% safety barrier, and my tamron hates safety barriers. i envy your shots:p , BTW did you get any shots of the F18?

Sure were.
See the mesh fence in the background? That's what we had to contend with. Only open areas in the fence were for track marshals and emergency crews.
Next time a 100-400IS will be with me I hope.

Nice sharp shots. It's so hard getting good shots through the fences, you've done a good job with these.

Thanks Dan
I am surprised most of my good shots are Ford :(
But hey they won the day because they have a good driver. I wish they'd call it something other than Ford V Holden though. Only Ford or Holden by outwards looks these days.

I am astonished to find out you shot these pics through the fence. Did you PP the fence out of the shots or is it just a matter of aperture setting? Were they hand held or did you use mono-pod?
I think I may have lens envy..I was saving for a 70-200 f/2.8L but always knew I wanted more reach and so I recently bought a Sigma 50-500 APO DG (2nd hand) instead. I took it to Queensland raceway for the V8 testing a couple of weeks ago and thought I got some OK pics but yours are in a different league. (I shoot with a 40D also). Are the L's that much better?

Daz
Not just reach t hat counts. I had a 1.4 x tele on as well. There's no pp on these except the usual sharpness, contrast and the likes
The secret is to get as close as possible to the fence and fill the frame with the subject. Any longer distance shots I got all have some fence visible. This is why I have only posted these shots. If you look closely you can see the fence blur in a few. But I can live with that.
Thanks mate for the big rap. 70 - 200 F4 is a great lens. But longer reach for next time to help with fence blur:)

You did well. We were up in a stand and the fence was equally annoying.
Was restricted to pretty much shooting the pits

and the last corner onto pit straight

I'd have liked a few long shots and the pits. You got good shots here
Corners seem the be where the action is though.
Next year a gold pass I think
