I have wanted to try my hand at self portraits for a while and I finally got around to it tonight. The last one is my favorite and when I first looked at it I hated it. So I did a little work and now it's better.
Please any comments are welcome or any suggestions on how to make them better!
Thanks Have a great night and morning!

Very nice. I like the mood set by the portraits. Keep them coming. You are doing great!
It would be nice to see a little sharpening added to the eyes, but that is my own preference. You may have intended this, but it seems like the focal point is out in front of the face (the hair hanging down in front of the face appears more in focus than the eyes). The effect on the third portrait is nice, but I think I would prefer the grain size to be a little smaller. Overall, they are very good. I've never tried a self portriat, and don't think anyone would be interested in my mug! Maybe some day I will brave that territory.
Best Wishes

hi megahn,
the first photo i think that the light is a bit harsh. still it isn't too bad. next time you try that again, try moving away a little from the main light.
2nd is nice. my fave.
3rd, i like your post processing here. some might not like it for the noise but i like that you incorporated it in. its nice.

For the light and sharpness I prefer the second one.
BUT, for the look for that...special "something" that makes a portret to be real good I prefer the third :)...there's a misteryous air there
Maybe you cand post it again with less noise or not noise at all.
Good job

I like the two black and white ones... I would like to see one of your eyes though, looking right at the camera. :)

I like those a lot Meghan.
A self portrait is a really hard thing to do I think. I like these serious, kindof distracted images.
Im glad you arn't looking at the camera, and I think the colours in the 1st one look great.

Thank you ALL for the comments.
For the first picture the color and the brightness of the picture I changed. I wanted it to look harsh with the light, and I agree with the focus point. I'm working on trying to get everything in focus.
The last one. I personally like the grainy look, but I agree a little less might be better. To me its mysterious.
Laurenn if you figure out whats missing let me...im interested in knowing.
Poke my eyes looking at the camera was going to be what I was going to try next.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions! Keep 'em coming!!

well, when I've made my first comment it was from my work...and there I've seen those pictures on 1280x1024 monitor.
now, here at home, on 1024x768 I must tell you that number 3 looks preeeeety interesting with that noise :).
A little more for my taste, but looks better at a lower resolution

Just my opinion...I think the only thing that is missing is the photographer to take this pictures !. I mean I think it is very hard to make your own portraits and have an "interesting and misteryous" air sametime because being photographer and model in same time you are tempted to keep your eyes on the camera and to stay tensed until you hear the shooter.
As I said, it's just my opinion. And that's why I like those pictures (especially the third) - they look as they are made by a photographer and Meghan is just the subject.

Im going to assume that the pictures look like another photographer took them and me being the modle is...a good thing....if im wrong tell me.
Thank you for the kinda words.
I work at a photography studio and I showed the head man there...hes an older man and not into doing things with a twist to them like these photos but he thought I did a pretty good job for taking them myself.
Thanks again

IT IS a good thing. Sorry if I wasn't very explicit but English is not my "native" language :)
It is because you just pose and you don't think at the camera like a photographer, like being your work tool...you simply have the expression of a model in front of somebody else camera. And that's a good thing. ;)

For the first picture the color and the brightness of the picture I changed. I wanted it to look harsh with the light, OK, if that's what you wanted, then you got it. I'd suggest that some PS cloning be applied to the area around your nose, though.

I love the third image. I think it would be even better if your eyes were not so dark. Nice work.
