Hi! I am new to the site and new to SLR photography. At the end of last year I picked up a used 10D, and I have been loving the expanded capabilities compared with my old point and shoot.
Here are a few random street photos from around San Francisco. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing says San Fran to me, but that second one is disturbing but well done composition wise...

I wasn't trying to take shots of fisherman's wharf and the cable cars, but thanks!
All of those things say San Francisco to me, a discarded shopping cart, pigs that i would see every morning from the bus, and of course, strip clubs.

I see. My guess is that was taken in Chinatown.

Right you are! Part of a series I was thinking about dealing with food and where it comes from. Here are a few more from that series.

The food is definitely interesting in Chinatown. Another thing that I found interesting was the huge wall of drawers full of all kinds of plants, etc. in the shops that sell herbs, remedies, etc.

#1: nice idea... ISO3200, f1.8 and 1/10s at 50mm account for the grain and softness... tripod would have been good...
#2: good subject matter... the one with its neck out makes it...
#3: yet another dichotomy of allure and disgust... am I sensing a theme here?
Nice work: I like the darkness of it, but then I like Leonard Cohen too....
Cheers, Tony
